It requires large fields of landscaped grass. It's a huge privilege to even have the land, and often it's just taken from poor people. The fact that there are any golf courses within city limits is disgusting and elitist (and I shouldn't have to tell you how that relates to whiteness)

I live in an area where they’re building a new golf course. Bought out several farms and little old ladies. It’s a horrid depressed area, and people swear it’s gonna bring great jobs 🙄

I live in an area where affordable golf is available to everyone and large numbers of black people enjoy playing. The water is collected in ponds and reused. So anyway, golf is evil blah blah

So what? You could have 20 different more equitable sports in the same place it takes for 3 golf holes.

UGH. There's a family in Augusta Ga, that lives adjacent to the Master's Golf Club Property that refuses to sell their land to the Club. I hope they never do.

Our muni golf course allows young people who couldn't possibly afford to join the outlying private clubs a chance to play. Been there for decades, & you might be surprised who signs up for classes. Its also built on a flood plane, so not land useful for housing.
