"It's a public good" The problem is the owner class does not want an educated public.

absolutely, and removing it would keep people uneducated perhaps in criminal avenues
It’s unfortunate we don’t live in a decent society.
Should economists in a decent society ignore the depreciation of Durable Consumer Goods for 75 years? There were 200,000,000 motor vehicles in the US in 1995 and about 80% of them were owned by consumers. What is the NET Domestic Product?
💯 Me too
Dude's virtually always right.
In some countries college is free.
Free College Argentina, Austria, Brazil, Czech Republic, Denmark, Egypt, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Kenya, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Morocco, Norway, Panama, Poland, Scotland, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Turkey, Uruguay And collegedunia.com/study-abroad...
If it IS an investment, then it should be a tax credit spread out across our lifelong income.
Yeah but... the elites don't want the children of the "common folks" competing with their wholly inadequate spawn in the job market. This is their way to keep the status quo.
So do I.
Unfortunately, you have people like the DeVos family who really like their fleet of yachts and would rather make people pay on student loans for decades after the principle has been paid off.
My Granddaughter is a freshman at Berkeley where he teaches, I so hope she gets a class with him eventually.
The #MAGA #Nazi #Fascist #Republicans DO NOT want well educated, intelligent people, they want idiots who cannot or will not think for themselves & will just believe the fucking stupid lies they tell them! If everyone in #America were well educated, #Republicans would NEVER "win" & they KNOW it!!!
If you want voters to keep voting republican, and believing everything Fox tells them to believe, education is your enemy.
That's what I still don't get. Wouldn't a nation's leaders want the citizens of that Nation to be healthy and educated? Wouldn't it be worth the price to make it so?
Harder to control the educated and healthy underlings, don'tcha know?
It is. In fact, it's impossible, and maybe that's what they struggle with. The idea that they can't control everything
They've had a good run, keeping their own safely at the helm of things, letting the worker bees think the American Dream is actually available for them - if they work hard enough. Lack of education and/or poor health prevents most of them from advancing in both status, knowledge and influence.
That's right, but information has a way of creeping in around the edges. Now people are starting to wake up and really see things as they are, or some of them. Some still cling to the dream.
Shhhh. Don’t tell that twat Clegg.
I always invest in humanity until my very last penny. Higher education is the only way thy shall thrive and survive. Take it from me personally 🤷♂️🫵😡😡😡🕊️🙏
They don't care about having educated people. The uneducated are easier to control!
All school and medical costs are paid through taxes in Scandinavian countries. They don’t allow police to lie to suspects and they have a a law against banning any book. Scandinavian countries respect their citizens.
U.S. higher education is like the British officer’s commissions in the past; ability doesn’t matter, money does…
💯
But if anyone can simply go and get themselves educated, how will you keep the plebs scrambling for shitty jobs and an obedient lifestyle?
Part of the reason the young & the UN-rich are so pissed & disengaged from politics. Everyone in every party has made their lives more difficult & their futures bleak
But it's a public good precisely because it teaches people not to allow people like Trump from getting power. So people like Trump have to shut it down. Hitler, Stalin, Mao, Erdogan, Orban, etc. have shown the way.
The only reason why we don’t have this already is because of the Russian Republicans and their policies against the American people.🇺🇸
