Transgender people have existed since before the United States and will continue to exist after the United States
i'm starting to think i, personally, will get to exist after the united states
For real. This country is in shambles and may not make it to 2035 at this rate.
It's already dead. The sooner we start making plans for the next republics, the better off everyone will be (except of course the fash, but they're going to have bigger problems).
California has two Senators. Idaho has two senators. The current system is corrupt, unfair and completely undemocratic. And indeed completely broken beyond repair.
Across centuries and continents, transgender people have always been here—walking among shamans, warriors, poets, and healers. From Two-Spirit ancestors to hijra in South Asia, their story is ancient. It is not trans lives that are new, but the forgetting. They are history, memory, and becoming.
The idea trans people are a recent fad because of the US is like thinking the entire concept of storytelling is a recent fad because the MCU exists. We existed before this specific government made us Target of the Decade in response to That Other Guy codifying gay marriage ten fucking years ago.
I hope the United States doesn’t exist much longer.
