I don't just want this problem fixed. I want to be able to sleep at night knowing it will never happen again, or at the very least won't happen during my children's lifetimes. I want the comfort of knowing the next generations know how to prevent history from repeating itself again.

You are spot on. Education plays a huge role. Educated people are less likely to be manipulated and fooled. We also need to find a way to prevent the media from being the giant propaganda machine it is in the mean time, too.
