This was straight-faced because I genuinely don't know how to feel about a heuristic that so often leads to the "correct" insight but that also seems kind of nakedly circular! It vexeth me, but less so now

You've also helped me to think of it metaphorically as a component of an organic/ecological approach, where I think I have the bad habit of conceptualizing things like critical lenses as inorganic tools. A hammer is a hammer buried in the desert but mulch needs context to be mulch and not just Stuff
