The Vote on Brexit passed 52% to 48% after a massive pro Brexit social media campaign linked to Russia. Afterwards the Russian ambassidor claimed Russia had achieved this. It has cost us hundreds of billions. Currently people who think we were wrong to leave outnumber those who don't 2 to 1.

Uh huh? Currently trumps policies are deeply unpopular here.

Given that he has attacked every ally America ever had, stripped away basic rights, attacked the most vulnerable in american society, dsimantled the most critical parts of the federal government, and has fascist thugs dragging people off the steets to internment camps I can see why,

Americans and Brits are extremely similar! That’s what I’m getting at.

We are and we face similar challenges. I hope we use what is happening in America as a warning not to do the same and to undo the damage we've alread done. My point is just because Russia has targetted the US don't think we were somehow spared. We really weren't.

It was the single worst decision the British public has made in over 100 years

So Russia zeroed in on the uk and lo and behold the Brits voted badly.

Russia targeted britain with a social media and misinformation campaign designed to sway the vote yes. There was already some anti EU sentiment from tabloid demonisation of immigrants. But the polls leading to the vote show a swing that corresponds with a targetted campaign traced back to Russia.

Uh huh? And this is difference from how things played out with us…how?

I am not saying you haven't had the same. Clearly Russia is influencing US politics enormously. I do have an issue when you say "yall are only spared because Russia specifically zeroed in on the USA". We've had the same plus the Russian military breathing down our necks.

It isn't any different. Both countries made stupid decisions and both are feeling the consequences. Russia did play a part in both, but it's not entirely to blame, not did it spare one or the other either.

Thankfully the fact that America is now demonstrating how untrustworthy it is as partner and unreliable it is as a friend is doing a lot to re-unite Europe so we're finally starting to build some bridges again.

So your citizens hopefully get to use the USA as a cautionary tale. You’re welcome. I, who worked my ass off to get President Harris and am still working my ass off to fix what I can after I couldn’t prevent the badness, can just wait for a horrific end, I guess.

I really hope you manage to end the horrors going on in the US right now and Americ can start to undo the damage. I hope we can avoid the same and rebuild our ties with Europe and at some point welcome America back as a friend. Good Luck to us all.
