Absolutely. Although even in the best of times which these certainly are not, people's lives change and sometimes they just drift away. I'm an only child so being by myself and not having a big family constantly around has never had any negative effect on me.
I had two siblings, two children, two husbands & enjoy being with alone with my dogs.
I can understand why people who grew up in large families may feel uncomfortable in solitude and quietness, but as I always told my friend's who had big families when we were growing up, I can always visit the cacophony and chaos then go home but you are stuck here.
