I mean, that's largely what people mean when they say Trump (or anyone else on the right) is anti-war, isn't it? His adventuring in the Middle East, threats towards Mexico/Canada/Greenland just don't register so long as he's giving Putin what he wants.

Those threats aren't perceived as hawkish because he's convinced that those places will be willingly annexed without a shot (Canada/Greenland) or will cave to allowing our troops in to do anti-drug/gang missions (Mexico)

It’s the Democratic Peace Theory flipped on its head. If liberal democracies are less likely to go to war with each other, that must also be true of dictatorships (it is not), so the best way to avoid war with dictators is to behave like one (it is not)
