It was a thrill to be invited on AMOT, and a delight to talk about this book. I never felt like I did right by Excession when I reading through the Culture sequence, and having returned to it, I think there's an argument for it as one of the series' best.

I hated Consider Phlebas. If I were giving The Culture one last chance, which would you go for?
Either The Player of Games (if you want something a bit triumphant) or Use of Weapons (if you want something dark).

On reread a few years ago it was definitely one of my favourites, looking forward to the ep!
I noticed it's getting an ebook release here--State of the Art already did and I'm betting Inversions (the last one that hasn't been legally e-available in the States) is coming soon. I'm glad of it.
