Obviously the answer to this question is no, but more importantly, I will not take a question like this seriously until it is demonstrated to me that the makers of LLM technology, and their boosters in business and the media, have even the slightest concern for the suffering of actual human beings.

From my Asimov's Novella, 'The Hidden God'. The protagonist (Izzy) is talking to an AGI (Huldo) about a tech baron (Bookman):
Notice that the hed asks if AIs can suffer, and the subhed asks if they're sentient. These are very different questions and this has been recognized since at least Bentham (if we get to make the analogy to animal rights, which I think works here).
I expect they would like a potential ai to suffer, it would be a feature for the techbros. But talking about this is silly
