I don’t understand. How did they get from legally holding a gun all the way to murder?

They went into a secluded place, then removed the gun from their backpack. Were told by the two armed security guards to stop. He then started walking toward the crowd with the gun pointing at the crowd. Unfortunate a bystander was killed, but security stopped something worse from happening.
And I believe it currently sits at attempted murder for the gunman and no charges against the security. So whatever happened, there was enough evidence that the police were able to make that determination. Active investigation, but more details will come out eventually.
Except that’s not what happened. It helps if you read the accompanying materials that have come out. Maybe it would help if you defined “gunman”. They were all “gunman”, except the dead person and people attempting to exercise their rights who ended up traumatized instead. There is no “good guy”
