It’s weird how he keeps calling them *white* hippies. Is he trying to get some credit for also kicking white people out of a place? Or is he confused about why white people would be against this?

It's a simple rhetorical trick that depends on the majority of listeners to make the mental association of "white hippy = privileged liberal"

That’s interesting. So you’re suggesting the “white” part implies privilege? And that’s maybe how white people in the MAGA base would perceive that? Seems strange that adding white would make MAGA see the group of hippies as worse.

Fascism thrives on contradiction. It's the whole "the enemy is weak but also strong" thing. For a lot of people (not just maga) hearing "white hippy" implies, via mental association, things like a California liberal being out of touch with actual repression and just using it as a political issue.

In this way, fascists can make the claim that there isn't any systemic racism but also that white hippies benefit from it and therefore can't speak on the issues honestly.
