I will never understand our refusal to reform wasteful, antiquated systems, especially when the reforms themselves are fairly low stakes while the costs of keeping the stale systems are so high. If something isn't working, try something else!
Or they privatize them, which in the eyes of many nothing should be done unless profit can be made off of it, to include services provided by the government which can be privatized to a flow of profits to the lucky friends of politicians.
This is such a shame but like with many important critical government agencies they are a victim of being a public service. Seems illogical, huh? The only ways governments can function are through taxes and fees and those are constantly under extreme reluctance to fund and appropriate by many.
So we get shoddy government service which furthers the argument of those who don't wish to give money to the government as government can't effectively function; knowing they didn't give government agencies enough resources in the beginning to be successful. They tease the services then kill them.
It’s a Republican state. They don’t care if it is broken and they won’t do anything to fix it.
