like for instance if there was a "all you can eat hot dogs" place. i would eat one hot dog
When I was in Budapest there was a place with a weekday all you can eat/all you can drink (beer only) special from 11-6 and me and some friends once spent 11-6 there pushing the limits
I went on Alaskan cruise last month, and the food on cruises is basically all you can eat, and I ate reasonable amounts of food at each meal. Here’s a lunch I took back to my room to eat on the balcony. All you can eat can still be good even if you don’t eat all you can eat.

Yeah, I usually eat less than a typical American entree in a single meal. So I’d rather pay for an entree and leave comfortably full with leftovers, rather than stuff myself so I feel like I’m getting my money’s worth at a buffet/all you can eat situation.
The exception is that I always love infinite bread.
when I was in college the school was very insistent on referring to any buffet-style event as "all you care to eat" in what I guess was a well-intentioned attempt to curb eating disorders.
