it's definitely the closest word we have but i still think it's not specific enough. lots of kitchen tasks have ultra specialized vocabulary and i think that task needs its own word

We said de-cobbing the corn, or just de-cobbing for short. We always had to de-cob my older brothers corn when we had corn on the cob after he had his front teeth replaced after a pole vaulting accident.
