Sad times that the lead image for Willow Tit on one prominent search engine is hideously inaccurate AI slop #UKBirding #Ornithology @richardkbroughton.bsky.social

Apologies in advance if you know but if you add " -ai" to the end of any Google search it doesn't do that standard ai summary. Saves on the rubbish and a tiny wee bit "greener" on the energy use front

Does this also work on duckduckgo? I'm finding that more and more of their search results lead to ai junk pages, so much so that it's getting hard to find real stuff like research papers, they are pushed down to page 3 or 4 of the results. Wish they had a setting 'Exclude results from AI sites'.

Just tried it in Duck Duck Go (my default) and couldn’t see any difference so perhaps they already on the willow tit search (did scroll down far tho). I use only Google scholar for research papers.

I tried google straight away and didn’t get that result. I am using the non ai-summary version though.

Nice aberrant Blackcap! How long until someone is making & selling a whole fieldguide made of these?

I think the AI has maybe been influenced by some non-English names for 'Poecile montanus', which in some other languages are along the lines of 'Black Cap/Head' (e.g. Czarnoglowka), so it's then mixed up yer actual Blackcap.

Can AI understand anything other than American English? 🤔 It certainly can't cope with UK English spellings!

At the weekend, a mate sent me some images of a Corn Bunting he’d run thru ChatGPT. One looked like a pipit 🤯 and the ‘best’ Corn Bunting-like one looked more like a 1CY Yellow-breasted! He sent me the original and I returned it within minutes tweaked in Topaz still looking like a Corn Bunting 😂
