I sound insane when I say this but I truly believe a big part of the Trump admin’s approach to energy policy is driven by gender anxiety. They think coal and oil are manly and renewables are effeminate.

Climate change … this whole thing smacks of gender
CLIMATE IS CHANGING? AND WE'RE SUPPOSED TO "Plan for its transition"? HELL NO! YOU TELLIN ME ITS ONE OF THEM TRANS?? GOD DAMN IT THEY"RE TURNNING THE CLIMATE GAY! THE SKY IS WOKE!! IT STARTED WITH RAINBOWS IN MY AMERICAN SKY, WELL NO MORE! WELL MAKE SMOG TO BLOCK THE GAY!
Hear me out: a solar and battery powered arc furnace that has a phallic shape and shoots out molten steel like it is semen.
With a whiff of transphobia thrown in there, too. “You can’t change the climate. If you can change the climate, what’s next? Changing genders?” - Die-hard trumpists, probably
Oh there's a podcast for that drilled.media/podcasts/dri...
Transgender for everyone, including the planet
Climate change smacking of gender is why @19thnews.org has a climate reporter. She’s great. Everyone follow @jkutzie.bsky.social.
thx sara!! @moiradonegan.bsky.social This Q&A gets to some of this: 19thnews.org/2024/12/petr... But i'm also reminded of this great story about the need to man-ify electric cars so that men will drive them..: www.theatlantic.com/technology/a...
Hang on a sec... Yep. That didn't take long www.scientificamerican.com/article/men-...
This bit: "Ironically, although men are often considered to be less sensitive than women, they seem to be particularly sensitive when it comes to perceptions of their gender identity."
Legit part of social science on climate denial. sciencepolicy.colorado.edu/students/env...
Makes me sick and sad how far backwards these thugs are taking this country.
<>
May explain why geothermal so far has avoided their wrath because the big manly men are still needed to drill into hot rocks instead of trapped pockets of methane.
I bet you’re right.
And the planet!!
Saving the planet is for girls. Killing the planet until we kill ourselves is for men 💪
Don hates that windmills are not phallic enough? Or he needs that Saudi money pipeline?
Unfortunately everything does now
Hot flashes terrify them.
Absolutely! Even though the English language is ungendered, I bet if you polled people about whether coal, solar, etc. are feminine or masculine, there'd be broad agreement which is which.
big oil lobbying more easily explains
They feel inadequate next to big swinging blades?
And tall rigid towers
Why Trump hates wind farms
I've said it's wrong but understandable that the climate movement caught the postmaterial mind virus. How the anti-climate movement also caught it is beyond me...
I’m pretty sure they have posted Ai images of oil well workers that look like Tom of Finland art.
That makes total sense. 🚛 Rolling coal, y’all.
I'm not sure anything can be more bizarre and reductionist than what is happening in DC right now. It seems so blatant, and simple, and infantile.
Big scary closet, boys?
I think you're on to something. Fossil fuels are dirty, smelly, dangerous, obvious (dark smoke), toxic, Renewables are renewable, clean, invisible, safe. There's a reason giant gas guzzling trucks have truck nuts AND coal rollers.
And yet the market half these people claim to worship has been shuttering coal plants for years because it’s too fuckin’ expensive.
Sounds on brand for Trumpers actually....
Wasting money to save money? Make it make sense!
for real, no doubt
Not sure if this is already somewhere down-thread, but here’s a link to an archived snapshot of the article for them what needs it. https://archive.is/Xr0em
They just haven’t figured out a way to enrich themselves with renewables
at the risk of ignorance of a (likely academic) writing on this that's already published - would love to read a caldicott "Missile Envy" work along these lines
I think this assessment is more valid than not.
interesting point. they also are so dumb and such black and white thinkers that because Al Gore was the person who brought climate change to our consciousness, and HE'S A LIBERAL(!), they have to deny it. right wing media has been dehumanizing liberals 4 decades and these fools just guzzled it down
I’ve thought for a while that Trump loves oil and diesel because they make engines go **VROOMVROOM** much louder than electric engines do.
It is ABSOLUTELY about gender. Coal is MANLY because big, strong, dirty men have to use their huge muscles and use pointy things to dig the stuff out of Mother Earth. The fact that there are more museum docents in the US now than coal miners doesn’t affect this.
Because coal miners are MALE, their jobs are important and must be protected forever, unlike girly elementary school teachers. Who cares if anyone can read, amirite?
That is definitely a part of it. Until recently, they thought electric was "gay." Tesla turned that around a little bit. They also did that for solar, which was gayest until panel subsidies provided generator power for Texas' spotty grid to a lot of people. The gayest is now wind.
I gotta stop knowing shit like this, it's so bad for your brain and heart.
Heal your heart. Read about Tamar of Georgia throwing down against the Patriarchy in the 12th Century: badassladiesofhistory.wordpress.com/1000-ce-mode...
📌
This explains why I love driving through the turbine fields so much
Tesla didn’t make a dent there, it’s still what they think
You could seriously cause an identity crisis for a lot of these people by telling them that Hitler more or less personally designed the VW Beetle
And the gayest is now wind because the mad king doesn't like that the wind exposes his bald spot and botched hair surgery.
Everything they believe in is this stupid and pointless, yes. Just the weakest men on earth.
They're all terrified that someone will call them gay in front of another man.
Absolutely agree. Also windmills caused Trump problems at one of his golf courses once, and of course wind itself is one of his mortal enemies (that birds nest on his head is very delicate) so wind power needs to be eradicated and beaten down like all of his enemies.
I totally relate to this POV. It's like to think about policy w/any nuance you need the 108-color crayon box and they have the five big crayons and MANLY is one of them.
But oil is effeminate. Why don’t they know that
open.spotify.com/episode/7JNe...
but i heard the windmills are driving the whales crazy
He said they cause cancer, as if his word salads were gospel, male words I might add.
Worst. Businessman. Ever. What a waste of money. Surprise, surprise.
in case anyone wants to dive deeper - Drilled have a brilliant mini-series at the moment on carbon bros ✨ open.spotify.com/episode/7JNe...
Trump pretty much said so in a rally in WV
Not just symbolically. It is literally about maintaining the domestic and paternal status of a small group of older men by propping them up economically in small towns they are afraid their wives and children might leave.
they also see wind and solar as jewish--rootless cosmopolitan energy that transcends borders and scarcity--and fossil fuels as blood and soil energy--precious fluid/ancient organic matter and territorial inheritance which can be conquered and enclosed
Maybe, but they definitely see this as gendered much more than racialized. To the extent that antisemitism has a role here, it is that Jews are gendered female.
F&%@ I cannot believe I never worked that out. So obvious once you say it.
I think this is right. The DOE Secretary: “Wright – whose department has bizarrely [has] taken to tweeting pictures of lumps of coal with the words ‘She’s an icon. She’s a legend.’” & while shutting down solar & wind in stupid & expensive ways, they’re propping up coal & gas. shorturl.at/AeaS6
No. The R Big Donors are the fossil-fuel industry. Heres why -- EXACTLY WHY -- theyre doing what theyre doing. ⬇️ youtu.be/VN9OaaKHH5Q?...
Doesn’t sound insane at all. Even here in the UK for a long time electric vehicle for example have been regarded by the usual twats as “effeminate “.
This reminds me of the time I posted on Twitter about my husband getting an electric lawnmower, and a bunch of red-pilled doofuses came into my mentions blabbing about how he was emasculated because I guess the lawnmowers without the VROOOM noise are for ladies, so I think you're onto something.
You give too much credit with the “they think”.
You are not wrong.
And *they* are the insane ones.
I think you're on to something. Anything related to saving the environment is too dainty for them. They like manly energy sources extracted from the Earth by manly men. Sun? Wind? For wimps. What next? Flower power?
The coal lobbies that paid heavily into his campaign are probably also a facotor.
As ridiculous as that may sound, it's probably on the mark. These people have some serious hangups.
No. This is spot on.
they also think YMCA dancing the double handjob is manly or maybe thats the only thing they push cause they are bribed but have no arguments
It makes sense. Coal and gas are easier to physically dominate and hoard by a few “alpha” companies , which makes them seem “masculine”. Sun and wind are more available to everyone and not as easy to hoard and dominate over. Making them seem more “feminine”.
China does not have that problem with renewable energy...and their government REALLY was not a fan of female energy.
Sure Cletus, if it doesn't go "vroom vroom" your junk will fall off.
That and massive crippling insecurity driven by self hatred. He hates himself far more than we do, which says a lot.
every bad policy can be traced back to a politician’s sexual insecurity
@titonka.bsky.social
This is very obviously clearly true. They say it plainly! This is what rolling coal is about, too.
Drill baby, drill.
Suddenly I have a completely different understanding of "drill baby drill" dunno what took me so long
That’s one of their less subtle slogans, and God knows they’re never subtle about how much they hate women.
Kick backs are very manly too. Pockets to line. Lots of pockets.
They ARE insane, not you.
We have a slightly different take. 47 just hates that wind farms mar the ocean view from his Scottish golf course. So he tries to get rid of them all. And then transfers that irrational hatred to all clean energy.
Not outside the realm of possibility - Winter’s book convincingly argues that race and gender structure many policy opinions: books.google.com/books?id=lkX...
Nail on head.
I'm not even sure that's subtext. I think that's pretty close to what they say about it. It is so hard not to sound crazy when describing people who are completely out of touch with reality and humanity.
I agree 💯
Oil derricks and pump jacks versus a roof of solar panels.....
I’ve seen it called petro-masculinity. I think of this whenever I see someone rollin coal (ugh). I also think of it when certain people say we should worry more about climate change than “identity politics”. It’s all interconnected. You can’t ignore the patriarchy and expect environmental progress.
Tell ‘em to f#ck off
The us trully has went back backwards, arround a 100 years
*clean* energy? We want dirty energy from manly men covered in coal dust and oil!
It honestly wouldn't surprise me if their masculinity was truly that fragile
Yes, it's called petromasculinity.
This is a good term.
They certainly don't care about wasting money here.
I always say that primitive genital anxieties are a renewable political resource
Oh, I agree 💯
Nailed it! I'm sure fossil fuel dollars are a factor, but it's mostly that for fascists, if someone joked about them driving a Prius, and said Prius *just a little bit fruity*, they would actually, literally die.
Not insane at all. I’m surprised more people don’t recognize this connection.
Sounds to me like they need gender affirming care.
On. The. Nose.
It’s really dumb so that tracks 😂
I agree
Great observation! These guys are weak to their core.
I think that drives most policies of most conservatives, tbh
Show us anything you can say about this Administration without sounding utterly insane.
I don't think you sound insane You are actually on the money that a particularly powerful form of insecure, fragile masculinity could metastasize into something like this the part that is insane is that it actually happened
He's paying back the oil industry, which spent a billion dollars to get him elected.
Kinda makes sense smh 😆
www.facebook.com/share/r/16xm... Look at what else he has done ☑️
No. It’s about the money.
I don't know if that's RIGHT, exactly, but it's definitely not WRONG. (Environmental anthropologist here.)
THAT’s how insecure they are
He hates wind turbines because they put them up off the shore of his Turnbury golf course - it's always personal. He also hates renewables because libs like them and because O&G doesn't. These are the big reasons. Yes, he tries to associate with tough men but that's peripheral.
More than one thing can be true, this isn't just about Trump's personal feelings
STUPID. Waste of money, resources already spent that produces clean, renewable energy. "It" IS such a moron.
journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/...
Nooo... Ok. I will read this.
Maybe. But I will bet that it's purely greed.
Have you read this?? It helped me theorized my essay on Hummer H2s and climate change in Y2K journals.sagepub.com/doi/abs/10.1...
Have yall seen the ad for recycling (as a concept? I guess?) where the focus was about how it’s actually Manly and Tough because it’s manufacturing and like Made In America ™?
So yes you’re right and this is how they’re choosing to deal with it
Or.... big oil and gas have paid Trump hundreds of millions to kill alternative energy.
that's been a thing at least since Ronald John Wayne Reagan right?
Yup!
100% correct.
Trump himself is 100% driven by his failure in the 1980s to recreate Manhattan as "Trumpworld" with its own Trump airline. Not gender, but diety. But MAGA? Yeah, they think that injecting extra oil into their diesel engines, belching black smoke, & flying giant flags is "manly."
📌
Bingo!
Most definitely
They are so stupid it hurts my brain.
Nah, Trump is doing this because Putin told him he has the tapes from Epstein and Trump believed him. And I am not evn joking there.
100%. It’s also why every loud, large pickup is driven by the same weaselly white dude
It’s marching orders from Koch Brothers who fare anything that isn’t Gas, Oil or Coal.
endlessly frustrating how people would think you are insane for just repeating the claims of fox news talking heads
MAGA hates mothers and especially mothers who work on climate change. They enjoy the suffering of mothers and children. They instituted fatherhood dot gov to give men preferential treatment for child custody to eliminate child support. This is well documented, & directly connected to Male Supremacy.
Trump tried to kill the duly ratified ERA on the first day of his first term. He is trying to kill the ERA and the US EPA. I’m not the only mother who worked at US EPA that the Male Supremacists targeted in family court proceedings. It’s a back door injustice system packed with MAGA activist judges.
The right wing judge told me he would “put you in jail and make sure you never see your baby girl again because you DARED to work on climate change at US EPA!!” My daughter has been kidnapped & concealed over 20 years by my rapist due to that judge who lacked jurisdiction & was bribed by the rapist.
Shades of General Jack D. Ripper and his Precious Bodily Fluid.
Climate change is woke….I guess. Insane
That sounds like a sane interpretation to me
Hey fellas is it gay to make electricity from the sun
🤣 these people omg
That sounds very plausible, all things considered.
This is the driving mindset between like 90 percent of his policies. It almost always boils down to performative masculinity
I think it’s morphed into gender but Trump lost a lawsuit in Scotland (?) against the country putting wind turbines near his property so of course he can’t let it go
It furthers their burn it all down agenda. Do you really think the TechBro billionaires endorse 20th fossil fuels. It puts us behind the rest of the world, suppresses functioning, and costs more for consumers. They want us to not be able to afford basic needs. We then become their serfs.
"I sound insane when I say this" Not at all, at least not from my point of view (and you're hearing this from a guy). There are few things more sane than the act of accurately calling out and describing destructive madness when one sees it, and you've done exactly that.
I've lost track of the number of males (*) who, having informed me of their absurd decision to become "alpha males" (as if that were possible), decided to prove how alpha they had become by treating any discussion of physical reality as if it were a test of wills. . . (*) I won't call them "men."
They actually seemed to believe that Universe, itself, would be so intimidated by their infantile bravado, that it would yield to their display of aggression and be transformed by it. Not surprisingly, these were not well educated men, in any way, and they knew nothing about Science or Engineering.
They never really saw the need to, and why would they? Where would there be a perceived need to study, understand and work around the realities of the laws of Physics, among those who on some gut level, didn't really believe that those laws existed?
Of course, those laws really did exist (and still do), so this sort of non-thinking led our "alphas" into failure after failure, but this fact had no conscious impact on them, because those who reminded them of that would be talked over and shouted down in person and censored on social media.
All that they really needed to do to feel comfortable keeping their own dysfunctionality alive, was to double down on their own frequently reinforced toxicity, with the support of their toxic friends, and seek out scapegoats for their failures, while keeping their critics from being heard.
These are the sort of people who can be seen proudly telling everybody that they don't read books and don't "have no fancy college degrees."
People who will try to bully university students into dropping out of their degree programs and signing up for trade school, insisting that real men "work with their hands."
People who then scream incoherently about the conspiracies holding them down, as they discover that their GEDs, their substance abuse, their fanatical religious fundamentalism and their eagerness to seek out menial work, together did not form the winning combination that would make them rich.
That's what "masculinity" in the Manosphere has become, something that has left millions of mediocre, undisciplined men with resentments that the opportunistic Mr. Trump was happy to play on. Referring to those resentments as "gender anxiety" isn't crazy, at all.
Nothing more manly than black lung disease!
It's realizations like this that make me laugh maniacally at my old self, who thought things were getting better As if the work of dismantling patriarchy could happen in a century or two. As if all it would take is *explaining* it to men.
I grew up in Oklahoma and I can say that, as a kid, recycling, solar, and wind (unless it was a water pump type) were overtly considered effeminate liberal loser shit, rather than useful tools made by humans
That’s so fucking bizarre to me
I'm thankful my dad was always like "fuck what other people think"
concur.
Well, they're certainly woke so that makes them liberal, soft, and nice. 😂
Gender anxiety is definitely driving a LOT of what’s happening
Check out the book ‘Jesus and John Wayne: How White Evangelicals Corrupted a Faith and Fractured a Nation’ by @kkdumez.bsky.social The book examines the embrace of the militant masculinity by Christians and the far right. Excellent read.
Yes. And probably accurate, depressingly.
No waste there. Need the power for the AI server farms.
Rock hard balls and sticky ejections. You may be on to something.
Yes plus meat and “soy boy” discourse.
This is so wrong. Trump is setting the US back energy wise.
I think gender anxiety and boiling resentment of successful women (and others whom they want kept down) underlies the entire agenda.
that mushbrain fossil thinks he's James Dean in Giant.
That makes sense! And they were so weird about recycling! The Fix-It culture must drive them nuts too! The internal war of “Real men [fill in the blank].” Real men can fix a sink? Real men can pay for a new sink? Which is it?! 😖 How about real men don’t dump on others to feel like “real men”?
Why don’t we paint gold phalluses on their sides and call them Trump Cloud Fuckers?
They think like foolish little boys that masculinity is synonymous with domination which is what they associate with the fossil fuel industry, dominating the natural world, and “inferior” Black and Brown peoples. I think a lot of men associate fossil fuels with war, which they see as patriotic.
Eh maybe, I'm not sure it's that deep. I think the fossil fuel lobby may have had a hand here more than anything
That and all the coastal landowners like him and RFK Jr. have a hate-on for offshore wind because having to see anything that reminds them of industry is for poor people.
Also he doesn't have to SEE coal and oil in the way he does with wind and solar tech and he thinks they're ugly
Let's see how "manly" they feel when black lung disease claims come rolling in from the nation's increase in coal mining. Oh wait: the administration curtailed most of those coverage policies and limited access and screening.
A lot of corporate/bureaucratic behaviour is driven by stuff like this. The same kind of person rises to the top under the drive of their own insecurities in any *industrial* system, which is why socialism is ~always a train wreck while social democracy is better: helping the poor isn't "masculine".
Rolling Coal on our entire economy
Petro-masculinity. journals.sagepub.com/doi/abs/10.1...
Wait, that’s insane? I’ve taken for granted for years that that’s a big part of the entire Right’s obsession with fossil fuels.
I have so much to say about this and you're absolutely right!
I think you're right imagine being so insecure that your sense of masculinity is threatened by a damn wind farm
I would have agreed a week ago, but I read a really interesting article about how kleptocratic oligarchs prefer extractive industries because they require less advanced technical expertise. Which allows them to dispense with experts (and their attendant ability to exert political power)
Men don’t like to ask for directions!
I worked vacations for US Bureau Mines Pittsburgh Mining Research Center (coal) in late 1960s. In 1990s I helped sell supercomputers to petroleum companies around world. There was a *huge* difference of technical expertise between coal and petroleum companies.
Huh - not an expert (at all), but I wouldn't have expected any difference! I assume petroleum was greater? Did you have any sense of why?
1/ Petroleum industry is far more techie. When I worked at USBM in late 1960s, *we* did the research for the coal industry: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_... Much coal (as in WY, currently ~40% of US) is at near/surface, although mines can get a few 1000 feet deep. www.eia.gov/energyexplai...
2/ That is nontrivial engineering, but basics remain: dig up coal, stick it in railroad cars and ship it elsewhere to be burned in power plants. Petroleum exploration, drilling, reservoir modeling, chemistry and mechanical engineering are way more complex, and for decades have used much computing.
3/ * First they have to find petroleum deposits, which uses seismic sensors &analysis. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reflect... * = topics discussed with petroleum companies I visited.
4/ They have to drill, sometimes as deep as 40K feet: www.bop-products.com/blog/drillin... That’s serious engineering, which got even tougher with horizontal drilling: www.dmr.nd.gov/ndgs/documen...
5/ *Then they do reservoir modeling: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reservo... *in 1990s, SGI offered parallel 64-bit microprocessor-based systems that were very cost-effective in such applications.
6/ *Then of course, besides the drilling gear, there’s lots of me mechanical engineering for pipes, offshore platforms, refineries. And finally, there’s serious chemistry. When I visited petroleum companies in 1990s, I was usually talking to serious engineers & geophysicists.
7/ Anyway, I’m certainly no expert on all this, especially in last few decades, but I have had some exposure to both coal & petroleum industries and I think the technology difference persists. Of course, I’d wish they’d quit funding climate denialism, not holding my breath.
Is this Kamil Galeev’s work? He’s written some insightful stuff about this in relation to the Russian economy and how it consistently fails to develop beyond the extractive level. Used to post about it at the bird place.
I think that is why kleptocratic leaders prefer extractive industries. But their followers hate renewables for a bunch of reasons, of which gender is almost certainly one of the major ones. And that filters up.
Of course I think in the minds of these mafia types expertise is also effeminate, so the two theories aren't entirely incompatible
Expertise, since it requires reading, is Girly. WOMEN CAN READ!!! AND DO MATH!!!! THIS CANNOT STAND!!!
I agree with the gendered argument. But there are other important factors; people can generate their own renewable energy; they eventually won’t need the grid. So less power, money and control for the oligarchs.
Not insane at all, it’s absolutely clear and plain as day.
Being a millennial (the first and apparently last generation to be remotely normal about gender) is fun!
Like the big gas guzzling truck is "manly" but transit is "too feminine" even though it's a much bigger studlier TRAIN
You are not insane. You are simply demonstrating you are perceptive, can read people well and have a healthy dose of common sense.
Honestly nothing is too insane for these freaks and this is also exactly in line with all their other posturing.
Are you kidding with this? Donald Trump is President of the United States. We passed insane about 10 exits back
You don't sound insane! I hadn't thought of this before but it fits. Remember the trucks that MAGA guys modified so they'd admit huge clouds of black smoke?
Rolling coal at a national scale
I truly, truly hate to say it, but Elon is actually one of the people who made electric vehicles seem less dorky and more sporty, so I think that we see them as pretty cool now
Electrics and hybrids are fascinating to a car nerd like me. I hope my next car is fully electric. I will respect Tesla for proving EVs could become mainstream, but I think Elon is now a net drag on Tesla's reputation and competitiveness.
I lost all respect for Elon as a man and public figure when he baselessly accused that professional diver of pedo stuff when those Thai soccer kids were trapped in a cave.
Oh absolutely. I'm just saying he did one decent thing for society like 15 years ago lol
Remember, it’s more manly to die in a coal mine disaster…
Fellas is it gay to renew your energy
Has anybody tried telling Trump that they're going to name it after him? Bet he'd think twice before cancelling it! That POS would never pass up having something with his name on it...
Oh yeah, they made that abundantly clear with choosing to purchase diesel engines as a response to priuses
Sounds idiotic…… so probably true
You don't sound insane at all. In fact, I truly believe that a big part of the current regime’s approach to *any* policy is largely driven by gender anxiety. And racism, of course.
Yeah I always sound insane when I talk about the Current Situation, but I do it anyway. Many people simply do not know what is happening
Not insane at all
Trump issued a stop work order on a huge offshore wind project in NYC, Empire 1 set to launch in 2026. Hochul got the stop work lifted a month later in exchange for allowing a natural gas pipeline project to go forward. The pipeline company gave $500m to GOP in 2024. IT'S THE M-O-N-E-Y.
I think you’re right.
sure I see that sort of thing here, more logging and shipping are what the county execs want, tourism is low-wage. we're about to have a fight about plan to clear cut our bike trails, likely to lose
Trump can stop this wind farm but technology is moving on with or without the U.S.
💯
This 💯 It’s all compensating
Talk about waste, where is DOGE. FU
Good point
WTF is wrong with these people.
The project developers, and state of RI should begin litigation right away
No I think you’re right
Moira Donegan, I have thought same thing. Glad to see someone express it out loud.
He literally doesn't like wind energy because he thinks it ruined his view at his Scotland golf course. He made up bullshit after that to justify his original view.
I wouldn't be surprised if it was, but I also think a lot of their plans are just as much about doing whatever causes both sides to be as distracted as possible from their other activities
Trumpites identify with filth: coal, oil.
Follow Pueblo, Colorado. If this admin takes out one of the few decent paying employers (Vestas) here, they’ll lose more 2024 voters in 2026. Also, ffs @vestas GET OFF X
there's a reason those videos of sweaty shirtless buff guys "throwing chain" (connecting the drills) on an old fields go viral semi regularly. it's almost pornographic and it's very Gender
Though installing solar panels is pretty much the same thing as being a mechanic or construction guy, both "masculine" coded professions.
They’re also having their pockets lined by Big Oil
I think that in this case it's more likely that the cause is that billion bucks the fossil fuel industry kicked in for the fat man.
So the conservatives are wasting money.
That tracks. Clean butt/balls are gay, clean energy also gay.
I would not doubt this lol
I mean if being vegetarian is seen as effeminate then I don’t see why renewable energy can’t also be for The Girls
Honestly the truth is the built windmills by his golf course in Scotland and he is a senile old man so he hates windmills now.
Very weak of them, what could be more manly than hundreds of tonnes of metal standing at 80 meters in direct defiance of God, harnessing the power of wind itself, one of the most powerful and destructive forces of nature? "Let's burn an ugly rock instead" pathetic.
Sorry have we forgotten how lobbies work
I don't think it's driven by that. I think it's driven by the existential threat to the fossil industry motivating them to pull out all the stops to prevent climate action, including funding elections. But I do think gender anxiety is a huge part of the marketing / propaganda they employ.
real men use WHALE OIL

I mean, Mother Nature is kinda part of the whole deal.
