New Orleans is a special city that deserved better than Katrina and its aftermath and continues to deserve better than the rapacious, privatizing, and exploitative governance that followed.
New Orleans is a special city that deserved better than Katrina and its aftermath and continues to deserve better than the rapacious, privatizing, and exploitative governance that followed.
Climate catastrophe, state abandonment, and then years of privatization, corrupt over-policing, and reproductive terror … in a way what happened to New Orleans was a preview of what is coming for the rest of us.

Someone in the excellent Hulu doc series referred to it as the canary in the coal mine and I’d never thought of it that way but it does feel like a perfect descriptor
A fitting tribute on this anniversary. I went to Tulane and didn't fit in that well but fell in love with early post-Katrina New Orleans. I hope the spirit of the city will endure through the mismanagement and mall-ification.
Same, but I fit in too well so I had to come back after evacuating. It’s still a beautiful city.
The reason that City isn't rebuilt is they hate the South the South has always been mistreated by the rest of the country ever since reconstruction they've hated us ever since. In fact we should just break off the country and become a socialist Nation I'm a successionist.
Note I want to succeed from the union for the right reasons this time not for the wrong ones I want a socialist country but yeah the rest of the country treats us like crap we shouldn't take it anymore
