Thank you. Learning opportunity for me. So you will not get a pension when you retire? I have been taxed between 20-33% over my working life, but (unless the rules change here), I will still get a pension and mostly free health care. Is that not you will have?

U.S. govt takes money automatically out of our paychecks for social security (US pension) & Medicare (health insurance for old folks) According to my records they have taken out $200K in social security and about $64K in Medicare. The current admin wants to shut this all down and we get nothing

We don't really have very many people with pensions in the US anymore. They use investment accounts for retirement here which is exactly as bad as it sounds.

Thanks, Sophia. We have compulsory superannuation and then pensions if required. Not perfect, and we have cost of living and housing crises currently, as does much of the developed world. Appreciate your reply and helping me understand.
