It's worth the initial investment in time and money to set up your own site. You can set up something for as little as like US$5/month, make it as simple or complex as you wish, and nobody can come along and tell you that some blue haired old lady didn't like it so it was deleted.
Yep, I have a self-hosted Wordpress multisite that I set up years ago and I wish more people would just Make A Website so they can own their own work and get as creative with it as they like without constraints set by a for-profit company that doesn't give two shits about them.
