GWB instituted PEPFAR because a close friend told him that Africans were dying. He tried to get a guest worker program to legalize undocumented immigrants. After 9/11 he told America that Muslims weren't our enemy. He made so many mistakes, but MAGAism is far more vile than GWBism ever was.
I'm not trying to make excuses for Bush. His incompetence cost lives. GWOT was a failure. Torturing detainees was unforgivable.
It's an indictment on today's America that we went through all of that and collectively decided that the best things he did needed to be undone and the worst things he did needed to be amplified by orders of magnitude.
