You can hardly compare Sweden to the US. Sweden does extensive background checks and requires initial and recurrent training to own a gun. It can take months to obtain a license to buy a gun there. The US doesn’t do real background checks and most states have no waiting period.

I’m saying that the hundreds of millions of guns in the US is a factor. Sweden’s gun ownership is high compared to a lot of other countries but there’s no comparison to the US because they take gun ownership seriously.
