What do you suggest we do with homeless? The problem is that without ending the problems that cause homelessness, we just create more homelessness.

They should set aside spaces with utilities, sanitation and social services for them to maintain encampments, and keep them from sleeping where it's disruptive to private property and pedestrians. When money is available, build more public and affordable housing, put them at the front of the line.

What?! No! That doesn't solve the core issues. You'd always have a homeless problem that way.

What's the core issues? Some say not enough housing. They clearly aren't going to build more housing. Mental health and drug issues? They're not going to spend on that either. So what's left?

That's not the core issue and you know it. Drug addiction is a major one, but not the only one. Without fixing those you won't end the cycle of homelessness

I think the core issue is the lack of affordable housing or a universal right to housing. Plenty of people are disabled, drug-addicted, or mentally ill without also being homeless. Everybody should have somewhere safe to live. But this will cost money much of society and government are stingy about.

Here's a radical idea...how about, giving them a place to live?

So someone that addicted to fentanyl now has a home. That doesn't stop the addiction. All you're doing is putting a bucket under a leaky roof

Sorry to tell you, but kicking a fentenyl addiction is far, far easier inside of a safe HOME than it is, out on the streets. And telling that "drug addict" is your 1st go-to.

Telling in that I actually speak to homeless people to see what's effecting them? Then yes, very telling

Telling in that you broad brush all homeless as drug addicts, when the majority aren't.

They likely started in a home then either got thrown out or evicted because of the addiction. What do you think will happen if you give an addict a home? Be honest

It's up and down. Sometimes he offers housing. Sometimes he authorizes destroying homeless encampments.
