yes I think for Mav would be great for a lot of reasons. the herd, company, guests... I would get one but I fear I am not aktivno enough for them.
I am but I cannot afford the vet. I love that post though. He was still disobedient and wrestled out of the collar but only to prove he was trying to help (I can relate to that actually).
We have two English shepherds. They’re what border collies come from. There are the all purpose farm dog. Ours are not trained to cattle yet.

Yes, but they need to be taught or they just haraas the livestock rather than move them where you need them.

If you ever want them trained, or to find a dog that is, I have a friend in NH who does that. Just let me know- a good herding dog can be like an extra farmhand.

There are active herding breed rescues, because smart dogs tend to fail badly in shelters within days.
If you know anyone who would like me to house one I go 3 miles a day and have places for it to run free.
