Heck, yeah. Started finishing college in comm art at 26, pivot to OT at 28, grad at 33 in OT, but was offered a job in IT (go figure), back to OT at 35. Stayed in OT, but drastically changed type of work 3x since. Took writing courses during this time, published a few articles.
P.s. My advice is to consider current needs as well as future career stability/work availability. Your tastes will change, and you will change throughout your life. My strategy has been to be sure all the bases are covered, have plan A,B,C when making a change.
And honestly, you can only assess career stability 5-10 years out. When I graduated college almost 30 years ago, and IT job meant you'd never be unemployed. I've lived through 2 layoffs myself, and I'm contemplating a future where AI makes my job extinct

My mom had nudged me to health care. She said always have something you can fall back on. But really, AI can replace most anything.
Eh, I'm not sure AI really can, but it doesn't mean the corporate overlords won't try. My vote is for plumbing. Can't offshore it, and it will always be in demand!

My parents made my brother take computer science and IT at college... apparently for that particular course & campus, it's the highest unemployment rate after graduation. He works in accounting now, also at risk of AI takeover 😅
Every decade has its This Is The Thing major/focus that is recommended - and every one has its day and passes. I've had various jobs in mental & behavioral health and can tell you that many folks feel stuck and are stressed the hell out. If you can break a trail that works for you, I say GO FOR IT!
