People forget AI is artificial intelligence. Synthetic. Like artificial cream = synthetic cream = not cream. They need to say it out loud slowly - AI is artificial intelligence. Then do the same with the sentence "A lie is artificial truth". Then repeatⁿ replacing the word "artificial" with "not".

I really like your idea that no-one would be surprised to hear that artificial cream is not cream. Metaphors like this are a good way to get the message across.
