I would add lack of treatment for mental illness, drug addiction and alcohol addiction to the “is a crime” list.
We need to shout it! When a man was hauled before a judge during the Depression for stealing food, the judge ruled the city at fault and had all court officers pay a fine which he gave to the man.
I feel we could go aways toward addressing homelessness if we diverted the funds for the tacky golden ballroom to DC.
Loss of jobs, manufacturing, straight up jobs that provide a wage and a sense of self.

True. Also, having a debilitating mental illness with no access to affordable mental health care is not a crime either.
I grew up poor. I remember the excitement when a friend's family member finally got the life saving surgeries they needed ( thank you Gov Moonbeam).Housing and medical care should be a right of every American, especially considering the corporate welfare every taxpayer is expected to support.
