I'm not sure what your point is here, you said no one was saying that and I pointed out I've actually seen quite a few people say that. It doesn't matter how influential they are when we're discussing whether this is a phenomenon that's even occurring, which it is. You're just moving goalposts

I think you might be overreacting a bit. Nobody is being told he's the only choice. But some people hate him and don't want to see him get any popular support so they take offense to it and feel like he's being forced on them. A lot of people on here should talk to a therapist.
I'm mostly confused because there is literally an example of people acting like this in this very thread yet you don't seem to recognize this as a thing that is happening?

That comment does not say what you claim. It doesn't say Newsome is the only choice. It says the people who are already saying they will never vote for X candidate are the idiots. We aren't even at the primary yet and people are already saying they'd rather have more trump. Perfect example of my pt
Those people would be a lot less angry and confrontational if the response to "Gavin Newsom sucks, he's clearly gunning for a presidential run, and i hope it fails" was "Yes I agree, Gavin Newsom sucks and I think he'll lose the primary" and not "you're such an idiot for complaining about Newsom"
