You got the touch. You got the power. Yeah! Transformers the Movie is 39 years old today. Celebrate by listening to the Retroist Podcast I did about the film. I remember a lot about seeing it in the theater: new characters, the music, the action, and the crying. www.retroist.com/p/retroist-t...

I met Stan Bush in Philadelphia and watched him sing the Touch with Cybertronic Spree. Stayed in the same hotel and hung out for a few minutes. The movie come to life in a way with Hot Rod, Arcee, Unicron, Optimus, Shockwave, Rumble, Quintesson, etc.

A generation of kids (myself included) was traumatised so Hasbro could sell more toys!

Man, I still remember the way I felt when Prime died. It sort of changed my view of Transformers for a while after that. I had watched so many movies where main characters or pets would die and it was sad, so I felt disappointed and a little betrayed that Transformers would pull the same stunt.
