My kids are in college now. But in grade school there were so many Braden‘s. Or Jayden, Braylen, Wralen, Kalen. The Grandpa names with that generation are going to be so weird.

🫣🫣 I know a boy named Talin. I have a weird last name that I always have to spell. It is a hassle. Why do that to your kids?

I was a SpEd para for 16 yrs. One yr when I was with a middle school kid, his math class had boys named: Keaton, Keegan, Kenan, Keden, Cayden and Caylon. There was also a girl named Kaitlynn.

These parents are probably like the parents in my friend circle, everyone trying to give their kid an interesting unique name. The irony is, it’s not unique. And speaking from experience it’s an interesting identity experience? Dilemma? having to spell your name every time you introduce yourself

Both my first & last names are relatively common & easy to spell but *still* I had problems with people trying to make me a Suzanne or a Suzan. Once I even got Suann. And my surname ends in 'ley' but folks always want to leave the 'e' out. No way I was going to give my kid a hard name to spell.
