Last night's dnd began with a bored barbarian stuck on a rock in the middle of an underground lake, progressed to a druid trapped in mind numbing shadows, was followed by some PvP brawling, a cursed locket, an exploding door, & concluded with some more PvP fighting. Why must they do this to me?
In my lvl 15 -20 campaign the rogue went off alone, invisible, in the plane of water while the rest of the party returned through the planar portal to the ancient dragon turtle's lair to take a long rest. The dragon turtle is missing and its hoard is completely unguarded.
That seems fine and completely not-deadly-at-all...
Yeah, what could possibly go wrong What they don't yet know is, the ancient dragon turtle, which they were hired to kill, is dead. The next boss battle is actually the kraken.
