And what is this presumption about the UK “offering reassurances” to Australia about AUKUS? Why should that be reassuring?? Most thinking people here see AUKUS as putting a target on our backs. The fact is these defence ministers are owned by the arms industry. It’s their retirement plan.
So much of the tub-thumping in the UK and Australian media about AUKUS is down to Sinophobia and outright racism. It’s the old Anglophile Empire Club - which the vile Tony Abbott epitomises - desperately trying to relive their now departed glory days.
Probably be a good idea to ban all ex-foreign and defense ministers from working for the military industrial complex post politics.
