This isn't about the morality of revenge, though. this is purely about its value in entertainment. At no point in time was I ever making an argument in moral favor of revenge.

That’s fair, but just to be clear the argument I made that you didn’t ask for is not a moral argument against revenge, it’s a logical one. It’s not, “don’t do it b/c it’s wrong,” it’s, “don’t do it b/c it doesn’t work.” My feelings on fictional revenge kinda follow suit: it’s lame/naive.
