That's a good glass-half-full way of looking at it 😀 Work to be done.

36-45 when nobody is even making the case to join the EU is a good starting point.
Yes, esp on what the “available terms” of rejoining would be for the UK. I’m not an ExtrawurstGroßbritannien type, but a Gleichwurst kinda guy. Same requirement to join the euro as applied to 🇸🇪 and 🇵🇱 on joining, for example. Standard Schengen rules. home-affairs.ec.europa.eu/policies/sch...
Sure The thing is both € and Schengen membership would be hugely beneficial for Britain. The £ is a fetish.
OK - I’m not going to get into the merits of that. There are various reasons why 🇸🇪, 🇩🇰, 🇵🇱 etc have retained their own currencies. Some apply to 🇬🇧, and of course 🇬🇧 has its own. My point is that the YouGov survey expresses the likely terms a bit too rigidly. There would be scope for flex, imho.
Indeed. The € and Schengen membership can be pushed into the long grass. But in the same time we were discussing in this thread also the Draghi speech from last week when he urged speedier reaction from the EU to compete with US and China. And he said there are two main areas to improve: 1/2
2/2 1) the services single market to be completed - and in this way you increase productivity by 7% EU wide 2) increase the financial power of the centre. Now, from this point of view, Sweden and Poland would better speed up joining the €.
It all depends on what terms would be best for the UK, what terms the EU would offer, and what terms would be politically palatable to the UK electorate. Three different sets of terms, all of which would need to align. Not impossible though, esp as 🇬🇧 rejoining would be a punch in the nose for 🇷🇺.
