Big gap between 2/3 here, hard to see some of those second-tier birds competing for the #1 spot as the season gets going but they play the games for a reason
The Blue Jays don’t mess around. We had one with babies that took over our feeder for a few weeks earlier this summer

Blue Jays are 100% jerks. They live by us and they are straight bullies. They'll find where smaller birds like to hang out and just assert their place. Cardinals are great, but holy hell are they LOUD!

one thing I've come around on is the elite S-tier song of the house finch - a truly underrated bird that is sadly overwhelmed by the basic bitch chirping of the house sparrows in my urban area

Problem with the house finch is where they decide to build nests. On top of your front door wreath? Yep. Inside a hanging flower basket? Yep.
This spring some finches built nests on the protected awning of my building out front and I was excited but after a couple of weeks they all left and the hordes of sparrows took over all the spots like every other year. Some kind of reverse bird gentrification in action.
