It is pretty clear that these Universities are weighing the costs of litigating to the cost of settling. Maybe they should ask faculty lawyers to do pro bono work defending the University.

They have lawyers on staff and they’re not faculty.

Yes, I know. Faculty are much better versed in Constitutional law, Agency law, and Criminal law.

Jfc. You do understand that in-house counsel know all of those areas of law and practice them on a daily basis. I do because it was my job.
