I'd say a speculative market popping up around gundam blu rays would be stupid, but that would be one of the less stupid speculative markets to crop up. Am I right, "crypto maximalists"?

It's already happened. In fact, before the de minimis elimination, a lot of the sales of OOP Gundam on eBay was actually Japanese sellers selling the American releases BACK to US buyers at high prices.
