Hell, they even do it to 19th-century America. There's a long running tradition in cinema and television that says the past is basically monochrome.

I watched the trailer and that was enough. As a medieval fan (loaded with my ancient MA in medieval studies) that makes me sad, but I could see that watching it would make me sadder.
