When I tell you I had to go back and look at a clip from the movie for reference because I could only here this version in my head

that simpsons episode is probably 25 years old and i didn't even know the line was a movie reference until now, haha.

“It’s a Wonderful Life” references did this to me all my life. Until I watched the @rifftrax.com version of it. I only now realize just how many references exist to that movie in the wild lol

I immediately recognized the movie reference since my family has watched it virtually every year but didn't realize there was a Simpsons episode about it...

Oh I definitely am that kind of Simpsons fan too, but that joke never meant anything to me because I never saw that movie to get the reference until I was much older. So therefore it didn’t create a lasting memory for me like it did for others, sadly

Didn't know about the Simpsons - probably have never watched even a single entire episode. I remember when my kids watched it, I didn't care for it and frequently changed the channel...
