There was one night in particular where that thing would go off FBI half hour and just start ringing "ding ding ding ding" until I got up out of bed to empty it. It was horrible. I hated that thing so much. We have in the wall ones in my house. My house is old. They're good though. Thank God.
Luckily I only had to use it maybe once a year for a week or two but it SUCKED having to empty that so often. Plus it was SOOOOOO LOUD.
It's still messes me up thinking about that ringing because it was like I was working nights at the time until 11:00 p.m. so my sleep schedule was already off. One night in particular was the worst and it'll always mess me up thinking about it. We moved into a condo after that.
The condo had the in the wall ones in the kitchen and in the bedroom and that was enough. We have them in our bedroom, upstairs in my office, living room, and guest room now. We actually threw out the portable one and that's another thing. They're expensive as hell.
Sooo expensive! Double the cost of window ones. I had old crank windows so couldn’t put a window one in. I eventually got new windows and was able to put a window one in.
I ended up getting the in the wall ones from PC Richards and they installed them. It was so easy to do and I never had to leave the house to do it. And they're effective too. They work very well. We just don't have the money for putting in central AC and my house was built in 1954.
I looked into duct units during that time too because central AC is so expensive. Window one worked though.
Yeah we were in an apartment so we only needed it for a little while. Then we took it with us to the condo and we had it sitting there for a while and I decided that I wouldn't curse anybody by giving it to them so we threw it out lol.

It was horrible. The whole entire experience of the portable air conditioner was horrible but that night in particular will always traumatize me when I think about it lol. It was such a messy time of our lives actually that apartment in general. It goes way beyond the portable air conditioner lol.
