Meanwhile, I just got my hospital bill for when I had to spend the night in ICU after an unfortunate drainage cleaner incident and it cost me €40. I'm so so sorry your country is such a mess

That would have cost $23k here, at LEAST.
That's absolutely insane. I'm so sorry that that's your reality. I checked and even without healthcare that would 'only' have cost me €1600. What could possibly explain that difference? You're just getting ripped off so much
Yep. And we haven't even talked about the inflated price of medicines.
It's crazy, a medication I'm on, was taken off the market temporarily because the pharmaceutical company wanted to make more money from it and the government didn't want to allow it
Jesus. They are so criminally negligent and it's just accepted. I just don't get it.
Me neither, those meds are back on the market (for?)now and for me the price (€2, I know, I'm lucky) hasn't changed but the time I had to go without was absolute hell. There wasn't a replacement, I just couldn't function for months because they wanted even more money
That's crazy. My son's meds, same story. Couldn't get them for months.
How is that not illegal! I was lucky in a way because I barely even have to pay to go to my doctor. She was able to keep an eye on me and even fully refused payment at times because 'I shouldn't pay because the pharmaceutical companies are so greedy!'
How can they justify that cost? Aside from what seems to be incredible unfairness and insane decisions, how do they arrive at the inflated costs of various things? It appears such a tangle of corruption
It is. Since Nixon destroyed our medical care in 1973 by allowing medical care to be "for profit", things have gone steadily downhill and here we are.
who makes most of the money? The insurance company, the medical staff, hospitals? Are medics corrupt too? It's honestly mind boggling
The CEO's of course. The 1%.
It is! I also find it weird how in the US, they air advertisements for prescription drugs. That just seems insane to me. That's so illegal where I live.
