Making comparisons to gasoline isn't really helping the case. Even if you demonstrated that gasoline is unsafe to handle, that does nothing to demonstrate that electricity _is_ safe to handle. [Not A] does not imply [B], because [A] and [B] have no relationship.
Watch a video or several, (there's thousands!) of people charging EVs. I think the sheet amount of steps visualized will help assuage your fears. If that won't do it, you'd never be convinced at how much safer the whole thing obviously is.
Actually, the information I got elsewhere in the thread about how they are designed did that. I doubt seeing that it's a complex process would have helped with that.
