Probably a question for @sleepykittypaw.bsky.social but I would guess the film in question (not knowing what it is) was made by an outside production company, had its moment on Hallmark, and then when that deal expired, GAC swept it up.
In pre-streaming days, Hallmark’s rights contracts with production companies less comprehensive, with distribution reverting back to production companies after 3-7 years. But, to be fair, GAF is Hallmark’s “competition” in the same sense I’m “competing” with Entertainment Weekly…As in, not at all.
Last year, Great American Family made huge deal over acquiring rights to 2013’s LET IT SNOW, pretending it was “new” movie. Unfortunately far too many entertainment journos played along, You’d think fact it starred Alan Thicke, who passed in 2016, might have tipped them off bsky.app/profile/slee...
