lol, the melting phenomenon is far stupider than a splitter, and last I checked NVidia wasn't letting manufacturers actually fix the issue. In summary, the 12pin connector has no clue how many amps each 12V wire is carrying, so a poorly connected pin (high resistance) forces excess amps on few wires

Last I looked into this was maybe 3-4 months ago, Debauer and some EE nerds posted some videos breaking down the power connector circuit, detailing why and how this happened, and what was still wrong with the cards that were supposed to be fixed.
