This thought inspired by seeing Adams land on the actually-effective attack line against Mamdani - his supporters are transplant yuppie gentrifiers - that Cuomo was never able to even get close to figuring out or articulate. (it won't matter because Adams is toast)
i noted it on a discord server but; i think it's impressive that despite being caught regularly in new corruption shenaniganry and abysmal polling, Adams is still running, ostensibly, a pretty solid campaign
That doesn't land at all, because all the struggling people he's using as ammo are struggling because of his own decisions. To be actually effective, Mamdani would have to be mayor already.
Ah yes, the very effective "He's offering something free that clearly takes something from people struggling to pay rent (which I kept raising)" and "He's going to do 'Squid Games' (and you'll all die?) on you all" campaign.
We don't have to credit someone for coming within 5000 square miles of a good idea. NYC is less than 700.

Even this is disingenuous. He never would've said this if Mamdani spent his Sunday at, say, an ethnic festival (last week was India Day), or at church (like him and many of the working families he has in mind), but a scavenger hunt is twee enough to turn into a culture-war talking point.
I'm not sure "the person in charge now is failing and he won't help" is a devastating blow when you are the one currently in charge

To me it reads as more of a "You're having fun? What about all the people who can't afford to have fun? Y'ever think about them? No, you only think about yourself." It smacks of means testing in that it's saying if you have time to do something while others don't, neither of you should be able to.
