A recent poll shows @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social leading comfortably even if his opponents drop out to coalesce. In the same poll, voters list their top issues as cost of living, public safety, and housing affordability. Voters are starting to see socialism as the answer to their concerns.

"Voters are starting to see socialism as the answer to their concerns." That's because the capitalists are destroying capitalism, which they do every time the government reduces regulations. It is rules and compliance with rules that allows markets, and thus capitalism, to exist.

I don’t believe that for a second socialism is a failed economic philosophy. Our problem is Croney capitalism, an uneducated population, religious extremism and money in politics.

Yeh but I’m not a socialist, I’m pretty much a basic capitalist, but I don’t think anyone has to be a socialist to believe in those same ideals that benefits the common good Like someone here also said; just seems like common sense to me.

Yup, however, I think a lot of people who don’t really understand what he means by that get easily duped by maga into thinking it’s communism…which they also don’t know anything about.

No, bad agents are trying to convince you that common sense socialist programs are Socialism. The highway department for example is not moving as to Socialism with a capital S.

I don't think elections change that much or bring about socialism that's just the definition of it. Once socialists get into power they try to find "middle ground" and don't do anything besides social programs.

mikeinsonoma.bsky.social @mikeinsonoma.bsky.social

I’m not sure if you’re talking about, social programs wouldn’t be a Socialist, Socialist with a capital S is a whole different animal. I also think moderates look for the middle ground not socialist, not capitalist, not Green Party.

Sorry I should have been more clear. I think democratic socialists wants actual socialism (economic democracy) but when they get into power the most they do is social programs and never actually work very much towards ending capitalism

Socialism /w a capital S is about controlling the means of production and no personal ownership. Where does “democratic socialism” exist today? Do they have a Socialist party that is acceptable to becoming like oligarchs? Scandinavia has democracy & capitalism, but more social programs, is that it?

Tommy Sanders @tommysanders.bsky.social

And no the workers don't democratically control production in Scandinavian so they don't have economic democracy either

I know they aren’t, MAGA will call them socialist because they have socialist programs. Maga has no concept of Socialism. I think Scandinavia does a good job at balancing capitalism, labor, citizens and regulation. They have the highest happiness index.

Fire can burn u alive or it can keep u warm. Capitalism is the same, so is labor, same /w citizens, same /w regulations. That’s why they all need to be at the table to balance each other. Without elections, how do u prevent a Trump? Our elections are being degraded or he wouldn’t be President today.

I agree with your definition of socialism. (Just some dont know personal vs private property) The reason why democratic socialism has hardly ever existed and doesn't exist currently is because of the nature of electoral politics. (This is why I don't think we should spend energy on electoralism)

I get what you're saying, but that doesn't actually make sense. All states redistribute. And they generally do upwards. Redistribution, even in the form of payments to the poor, is not socialism. The point of socialism is that workers have the power, not capital or an aristocracy.

mikeinsonoma.bsky.social @mikeinsonoma.bsky.social

It’s how socialism is structured, you end up with a socialist party that eventually ends up acting much like a group of oligarchs. The same with the communist party. Moderation is almost always the answer we need corporate labor citizens and government regulations all at the table then we succeed.
