After Dad died it was a very terrible time. I began to notice my resting face became down turned, mouth fallen into a scowl. It's happening again 😩

Sounds like you could use more squirrel time! 🥰
Do I ever.
Today, among many other adventures, one of the Jays got into my kitchen while I was out on the patio giving peanuts to the squirrels and the flock of Jays and a few crows. I didn’t notice until the poor thing was madly trying to fly through the glass windows.
Amazingly, he didn’t knock over my two vases with roses on the window sill, and nothing else breakable. I couldn’t calm him down but I managed to guide him to the open door… Hopefully he didn’t hurt himself! I’ve had both birds and squirrels come inside my kitchen before but never a Jay.
Usually they are too smart for that!!
🥰🥰🥰
When a little sparrow or junco gets inside, they try to fly through the glass & they flutter in place - it’s pretty easy to get my hands around them and quickly get them outside. The squirrels run all around the place, sometimes halfway up the walls,
but if they are squirrels who have been visiting me for a long time, they know my voice and I can talk to them and calm them down and they seem to understand that I am here to help them get back outside & they come towards me and out the door. That always amazes me but they do seem to understand.
You have such a remarkable relationship with these little ones! Yesterday I was watching a Mallard who was slowly following a squirrel around. The squirrel kept going back and forth and the duck would change course to keep him in her line of sight. I have pictures but was unable to get a good one.
I never in my life imagined having the kind of experience that I have now with especially the squirrels and the Jays here. It’s just from spending a lot of time paying attention to them and talking to them. They know so much more than people think they do.
I need to write a Birdie Buffet update about Ms Pretty Bird. We’ve got a new “understanding.” 😂. I bet that duck and squirrel have some kind of relationship. The Jays here learned that they could ask me for two peanuts because they saw the squirrels doing it. Ms Pretty Bird insists on THREE.
The current administration is having that same effect on me:(
