My best friend was shot and killed by her ex-boyfriend inside her parent's home in 1994. He broke in, hid in the bathroom and waited until she got home. He murdered her in front of her mother then killed himself. He was deeply depressed and needed help, not a gun. I'll never get over it.
This is why I will never not argue against the insanity of our gun problem in this country. Your friend had a right to live. Why do we give ANYBODY the "right" to carry a tool which can so easily take away our right to live? There is no good reason.
Republicans will insist it's about mental health, not the gun. Of course, they do nothing to make mental health care more accessible and nothing to assure that the mentally ill can't get guns. Every country has people with mental health problems. Only in ours is the carnage so great.
