There were three MPs (I think) who were elected for the first time in the Feb 1974 election and defeated in October, which must have been annoying. Michael Ancram (Con) was back in 1979, Paul Tyler (Lib/ LD) after a long gap in 1992, and Harry West (UUP) did not return.
That must have been so annoying. Like, you’ve told your friends and family about it, quit your job, cheerily said “maybe see you in Westminster some time“ to some randoms and then - eh heyyy, I’m back…
