Except the DOJ controls the U.S. Marshals Service, so even if an arrest warrant were issued it would be up to the DOJ - who is carrying out these orders - to arrest...well, themselves. Not saying *not* doing it would be the right course, but it would only establish a record.
So maybe it’s time to force doj and the marshals to do their jobs. I’m so tired of “oh doj will just ignore this so let’s not even try” Force the assholes to other jobs. I’m sure there are protocols that just aren’t being used.
There aren’t any other protocols. The judges explored that and found they can’t take control of the service. Because it was never contemplated that the executive branch would break the law to this degree. I’m tired of it too, but this is one case where there are no viable alternatives.
They are always alternatives, they just may not seem palatable at this time.
